What we offer

The Disability Consortium team will provide a package of specialist personal pre-employment support tailored to meet the needs of individuals with a range of disabilities and/or long-term health conditions, to assist them in overcoming the barriers that prevent them from entering and sustaining employment.

This will be underpinned by the team’s sensitivity towards and understanding of, the needs of disabled people including those with physical and sensory impairments; learning disabilities and mental ill health.

The support offered will be delivered on a personalised basis and will include (but will not be limited to) the following elements:

• Personal support and interventions
• Training customised to specific job vacancies
• Specialist information, advice and guidance services
• Volunteering opportunities, work trials and work experience opportunities
• Benefits advice, including the implications of coming off benefits and entering paid work
• Practical advice and guidance about how to apply for jobs, complete CVs and interview skills
• Support through the recruitment process, such as interview techniques and mock interviews
• Coaching through personal issues such as confidence, assertiveness, motivation and self-esteem
• Ongoing support to sustain and progress in employment such as ongoing training and mentoring
• Additional support for clients with mental ill health including counselling, mentoring support, flexible training and work programmes
